Our School

Hola! A very warm welcome to Pirie Park Primary School's Website, we hope that you find it helpful and interesting; we welcome any feedback or comments.

Last year was another extremely busy one.  We continued to have visitors from home and abroad to come and observe our very good practice, especially how well we meet learner's needs.

All children, school staff and parents should be congratulated on how hard we work together, in partnership, since our school opened in January 2010.  It is hard to believe that this session Pirie Park will be 7 years old!  We will continue to strive for further improvements to ensure that Pirie Park is a great place to learn and a great place to be!

This session we are continuing to develop the Curriculum through ongoing discussions on planning, assessments and our expectations of children as well as learning Spanish from P1-7.  This will mainly be through listening and talking in P1-4 and taught Spanish lessons in P5-7.  Staff have started to learn Spanish vocabulary and methodology and are having great fun with it too!  Last session there were many exciting projects, events and outings and we look forward to another busy year!  Each term we will continue to keep you up to date with your children's learning via class Curriculum News.  Children's individual Learning Journeys will continue to give parents weekly information about your children's learning.  We look forward to your continued support with these as children continue to bring these home every Thursday. The Learning Journeys have increased children's confidence in talking to school staff and parents about their learning.  In addition, many parents/carers have provided positve feedback and particularly enjoy the weekly information and discussions with children about their learning.

We welcome new teaching staff this session along with continued additional staffing to support Glasgow's Improvement Challenge; we will continue to work with other schools and our Challenge Leaders of Learning in order to help Raise Attainment; a Scottish Government Priority.

It is our wish that all children are happy and successful.  At Pirie Park we seek to foster in all our children a positive attitude to work, progress, self, others and the environment.  It is important to develop the “whole child”.  We focus not only on the academic and aesthetic development of all our pupils, but also on their personal and social development.  We hope to work in partnership with parents/carers in the important task of developing all children to their fullest potential, preparing them for the challenges and opportunities they will face in the future. Should any questions remain unanswered about your child's learning, homework or any other issues, you can contact the school to make an appointment to see the class teacher or a member of the managment team-we will be only too happy to help.

We hope session 2016-2017 will be a happy, exciting and another successful year for all children, their families and staff.

Yours sincerely,

Jane Arthur
